The name of this garden alludes to a retort from the Cheshire Cat that Alice meets in Wonderland.
We might say that this mysterious character sums up the spirit of this garden: facetious, deceptive, and intriguing. After going down the great slide, we land in another world. Dreamlike spaces depict various atmospheres: catalpas with mossy feet, climbing plants obscuring the sky, lush plants with pointed leaves….
In Latin, the verb “to play” is linked with the word for illusion. The designers have thus imagined here a garden of dreams, of make-believe and of magical tricks.
