This garden presents the gap between different speeds of motion. It confronts the
infinitely slow movements of the Earth and
of the telluric plates with the immediate, absurdly instantaneous mobility of exchanges of people, data, money or goods.
In the cracks between the plates, a
paradoxical forest has developed. Artificial trees stand among the natural ones. Move these synthetic leaves, recycled out of
movers’ tarpaulins, and mingle them in with the foliage of the living trees.
By using digital technology, the method of designing this garden itself takes up the Festival theme: tools for generating random shapes have served to design the
morphology of the telluric plates.
